About my art
My work spans bold expressionist abstracts, atmospheric seascapes inspired by the North East coast, street art culture, bold urban typographic pieces, geometric pop art, drip paintings and layered contemporary spot art.
Each collection reflects a different side of how I see and respond to colour, texture, and movement - but they're all united by the same goal: to create art with real presence, made to be lived with.

Layers & materials
All my paintings are multi-layered, built using a mix of media with stencils working in industrial & acrylic paint, enamel, inks, oil pastels and pencil. Work in washes of colour and thick applications of paint to build depth, texture and intricate detail, continuing until I reach a strong sense of finality.
I often work on multiple paintings at once, which gives me a broader view and helps create a more structured, coherent series.
Every painting is created by hand with love & passion in my studio, to the highest standards, using only professional materials to create a painting that you will truly love.

My approach
Working on a painting is a personal journey, and each piece can take several months to complete. I build up layers and let the composition unfold gradually - adding and removing marks, and balancing intuitive gesture with considered refinement and structured thought.
Once I start a painting, I'll often leave it hanging in the studio for a while, viewing it in different light and from different positions to get a better sense of direction. I return to it repeatedly over time, constantly assessing and adjusting - responding to colour, composition, and changes in form and my mood - until the painting truly comes to life.

Inspiration
I'm drawn to the dynamic relationship between colour, detail, and feeling. My work is shaped by a longstanding connection to the local coastline, alongside a love of typography, graphic design, modern art, street art & culture - all of which surface, consciously and unconsciously, at different levels throughout my paintings.
